Gorillas in Bwindi

This Tours Start and End Kampala, This 3-day gorilla trek safari takes you to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is home to more than half the population of the remaining 880 Mountain Gorillas. The forest offers a unique birding opportunity, cultural experiences, a scenic allure of stunning hills and lush vegetation inhabited by the elusive primates. The gorilla trek activity is the most enchanting experience in this forest.

Day 1. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

We have an early breakfast before, setting off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where we will track gorillas. We stop in Mbarara for lunch and since we cross the Equator here, we stop for a few moments to mark the occasion, taking some photographs. We arrive at Buhoma Park Headquarters in the afternoon after passing through some of the most stunning scenery in the region and check in at the campsite for a well-earned evening meal and a good night’s rest.

Day 2. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After a hearty breakfast we assemble at the main gate then at 8.30am set off to the forest for gorilla tracking, an experience that will remain with you forever. At the end of your time with the gorillas we return to your accommodation for some refreshments and Driver to Kisoro, Dinner and overnight at Kisoro Travelers Inn Hotel.

Day 3. Drive back to Kampala.

After a restful night we set off for Kampala arriving in the afternoon.
Optional Trip Extension.
You may opt to go on to D.R Congo or Rwanda to track the other well-known gorilla families while you are in the region. Tariffs are available on the Tariff page.

What to Bring:

You must bring appropriate walking or hiking shoes as trainers are not suitable for the forest terrain. Waterproof clothing, preferably dark in colour as bright colours will attract insects, is necessary since the forest is at high altitude so there is a good chance of rain. Remember to bring high-factor sunscreen and a hat too. During your trek you will need to have plenty of water with you, so it is a good idea to hire a porter for the day. Many of the porters are kind, young graduates from the local orphanage, trying to make a living, so, let them help you, be generous and create a job for a day!
