Did you know that Africa is more than just the elephants, giraffes and endless stretch of desert? It’s a vast continent filled with interesting places just waiting to be explored. Some of these places may be new to you, which is why planning your trip ahead of time to hit the interesting spots will make those days seemingly unforgettable.

Our first stop is the Democratic Republic of Congo. Formerly known as Zaire, this peaceful country is home to more than 60 million Congolese. French is widely spoken, mixed with local dialects in Lingala, Kikongo, Kiswahili or Tshiluba.

Scenic rainforest, magnificent natural parks, rippling rivers and enchanting volcanic landscapes dwell here. If you have a penchant for wildlife, the eastern part of Congo in the North Kivu Province is the best choice. Experienced mountaineers and volcano enthusiasts will truly love the Nyaringongo Volcano trekking. The view of an active volcano is simply spectacular.

Next on the list is Rwanda, situated in the Eastern section of Africa. Hammered with ethnic conflicts for years, these have dramatically mellowed down and its boosting tourism industry can attest to that. Rwanda’s Nyungwe National Park with its untapped natural resources make it a haven for unique and endangered species from insects, birds to Silverback mountain gorillas. Other national parks include the Akagera National Park, Nyungwe National Park and Volcanoes National Park. The latter is largely inhabited by mountain gorillas if you must know.

Moving on and there’s Burundi, home to about 8 million fluent Kirundi and French-speaking inhabitants. Burundi’s unique and striking scenery will immediately captivate anyone’s heart. Its capital,  Bujumbura, is perfect for dining and nightlife. This place is also blessed with wonderful inland beaches and other natural wonders.

There is more to learn in these places than discussed here. History can be learned through reading but feeling and experiencing first hand is totally a different story.

Visiting Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi require a deal of preparation from government required documents, transportation, accommodation and cash. The latter is more important because there are probably no ATM stations in these places.

Alternatively, you can ask your local travel agency or http://www.hakunamatatasafaris.com/ for more information on what sorts of things needed to get to these places. You may request for itineraries for review just to be sure all is covered.

Some restrictions may be imposed, which an ordinary, first time foreign visitor would not know. This is why using a touring service is beneficial not only to guarantee enjoyment but for your own safety as well.
